Meet the imperfect tote.
We originally designed this denim tote as a Black Friday extra last year. Something practical, everyday, and easy to throw in for casual use.
We sampled the design and believed we had a great product for people. When production arrived, though, the quality didn’t quite match our expectations. Particularly the stitching; inconsistent and messier than what we’re comfortable putting our name to.
They’re still fully usable. They just don’t meet the standard we sell under.
We produced 200 of them, and we made the call not to put them up anyway. If something isn’t right, it doesn’t go on the site – even if that means absorbing the cost and moving on.
At the same time, sending perfectly functional totes to landfill didn’t sit right with us either. The issue here is finish, not function.
So instead, we’re including the imperfect tote free with every bag order.
It’s not sold separately, and it’s not positioned as a product. Just a useful extra that keeps something out of waste. We’re being upfront about the imperfections so expectations are clear from the start.
This is part of how we work. We iterate, we hold the line on quality, and when something doesn’t go to plan, we take responsibility for it and look for the most considered way forward.
